Many people have a heart for the special needs community but aren't sure how to advocate. Our H4H advocate programs organize opportunities for everyone to support individuals with developmental disabilities. If you would like to show love to the special needs community, please consider sponsoring a story time, gifting a calming kit, or donating to a special family's campaign.
H4H Advocate Program: Calming Kits
Many neurodivergent children need a little help to manage their sensory needs. Did you know there are toys designed to stimulate or calm senses? A piece of chewelry can give a child the oral input they’re seeking. A weighted stuffed animal can provide deep pressure to a child who needs calming. We've worked with professionals to create calming kits with items that help reduce stress and regulate emotion. Hearts for Henry wants to support special students by gifting “calming kits” to their classrooms.
Each calming kit is estimated at a value of $150.00. Any donation amount makes a big difference. The weighted stuffy alone is between $30-$50. There are also individual items as low as $1.00. H4H Advocate Program: Interactive Story TImes
Henry & Annie host story times that teach children about special needs in a sensitive manner. Your generous sponsorship of an interactive story time will create an opportunity for connection. Children will be encouraged to ask questions about Henry and his special community. The books will educate, but the interaction will bring the story to life.
H4H Advocate Program: Special Families Campaign
Budgeting is difficult for special needs families. One item can improve an entire family's quality of life. A Cubby Bed, medical equipment, communication devices, et cetera, can be life changing. These items can also be a burdensome expense for a family that is already paying for medications, therapies, and medical bills.
Hearts for Henry creates campaigns to support these special families. Our current campaign is the "Gifting Groceries Campaign. "I was part of an online poll asking special needs families, “What is your biggest financial burden?” It broke my heart to learn the expense the majority of families are struggling to manage right now are their weekly groceries. Your donations will allow parents to focus on their child's specialized care and not the next meal.
